Products Overview
Serum Products
Serum is the usable result of separating whole blood into its component parts, This is usually done in a centrifuge. The amount of time in the centrifuge determines the type of product it will become based on cell concentration. Then the material goes to filtration.
Processing blood plasma usually involves ultrafiltration, in lowest the protein is purified and the salt removed, after which the concentrated plasma is frozen or spray-dried.
Plasmas
As much as 60% of raw blood is made of plasma, which is a functional protein with considerable commercial potential.
Plasma is made from the whole blood of the animal. After collection, the blood is centrifuged to separate it into its component parts.

Add-on Processing
Each customer order is given a processing assignment. The most common are:
- None – Just Plasma = no additional processes.
- Gamma Irritated = Gamma irradiation applied to customer specification. A certificate from the laboratory will be provided showing compliance with customer specifications.
- ·Heat Inactivated = heat is applied to reduce specific biological components of the product. A certificate from the laboratory is provided showing compliance with customer specifications.
- Sterile Filtration = raw serum is run through a series of filters to eliminate particles greater than a specified size. A certificate from the laboratory is provided verifying compliance with customer specifications.
